Overcome the Challenges of Neurodiversity
In the UK, around 15% of the population are thought to be neurodiverse, meaning that the brain functions and processes information differently.
If you are diagnosed with ADHD, autism, dyslexia or dyspraxia, you’re classed as neurodiverse. This comes with its own unique challenges, which might make you feel trapped and get in the way of your personal life, causing your physical and mental health to be negatively impacted.
At Kedras Clinics we work with both adults and children who either have a diagnosis of a neurodevelopmental disorder or have symptoms and would like assistance in both managing and addressing their difficulties.
Understanding the Symptoms of Neurodiversity
While certain tasks come quite easily to neurodiverse individuals, others can be extremely difficult. This typically results in inconsistent performance at school, work and everyday activities. These inconsistencies can often be ignored or underestimated in therapy and if not addressed appropriately, neurodiverse symptoms may lead to other problems.
The concept of neurodiversity suggests that there is no one “correct” way of thinking, learning, or acting, and that variations are not seen as deficiencies. People experience and interact with the world around them in a variety of ways. As there is no one way to characterise neurodiverse individuals, there are a wide range of symptoms.
Neurodevelopmental disorders include attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADD/ADHD) and autism spectrum disorders which can interfere with the acquisition, retention, or application of specific skills or pieces of information. For example, people may use repetitive language, have a fixation on certain routines or rituals, or show an inability to initiate or hold a conversation.
“I had been through numerous types of therapy in the past with varying degrees of success, but this is the first time that therapy has got to the root of the problem. This has been made possible by the innovative approach at Kedras Clinics and the techniques they use”.
Treatment for Neurodevelopmental Disorders
At Kedras Clinics, we take a person-centred approach and look past your diagnosis and instead work with you to understand the range of developmental, behavioural, and emotional symptoms which we need to help them with, so you feel better and more able to cope with life.
Infra Low Frequency Neurofeedback (ILF NFB) is being used to help people with neurodiversity when traditional medicine is either not enough to alleviate their symptoms, or or when individuals and families want to avoid the medication route all together, out of concern for potential adverse side effects. ILF NFB can help the brain self-regulate and function more optimally, other modalities can complement it and provide support while the brain rewires.
