Depression Treatment

Creating a Foundation for Recovery

Do you feel like you often cannot cope, or feel overwhelmed with sadness? If so, you may be experiencing depression.

While it is normal for us to feel down and upset sometimes, clinical depression can cause devastating low moods that leave us feeling unable to function effectively on a regular basis. The low moods can make your everyday activities seem overwhelming, which can impact your job, friendships, and relationships.

You might have previously seeked help that didn’t work, or you may not have had the courage to talk about the feelings and emotions you are experiencing. Either way, it is important to understand that depression is a common mental health condition, not a sign of weakness, and is treatable no matter how down you feel.

The Many Symptoms of Depression

Depression often comes alongside anxiety, with symptoms manifesting differently depending on the type of depression you are experiencing. Common symptoms include fatigue, lack of interest in things that used to be of interest, low mood, low motivation, and constant ruminative thoughts. We find our clients often need help with sadness, emptiness, and hopelessness.

Other signs that you might be depressed include feeling irritable and having angry outbursts. If you identify with any of the above symptoms, you may be suffering with depression and seeking professional help is the kindest thing you can do for yourself.

“I just wanted to say thanks so much for your help with my daughter. Whatever you have worked on together she is a different girl, considering how low she was. We all feel (daughter included) that she is in a much better place and more equipped to deal with her issues or any issues which may/ will arise in the future. I really can’t thank you enough.”

Get Relief from Depression

Whilst depression is amongst the most common forms of problems that people experience, it tends to be treated with pharmacotherapy and talk therapy. However, not all people respond positively to these treatments and some medications are only slightly more effective than placebo treatments. Most interventions including medication do not treat the root cause of the problem but rather only serve to manage symptoms leading to people never feeling better or finding they must work hard all the time to manage their symptoms.

At Kedras clinics we use a combination of traditional talking-based psychotherapy combined with neurofeedback to treat depression by activating the left frontal lobe in people who are depressed, leading to improvements in functioning. This targets the root cause of the problem helping to eliminate the effects of depression on a long term basis.
